Smoky-Poppy-Body-Collection

Now I love products from The Body Shop.  I always have and I think it’s a pretty safe bet to say that I probably always will.  So when it was announced back in February that they were releasing a limited edition Smoky Poppy collection I was intrigued.  While it would still be a floral scent, which TBS is known for, and encompass all of the products that you find in a typical range, to me it seemed a little more ‘grown up’ when I was reading the press release.  I immediately marked this range down as one to check out and indeed I swung by my local store to check out what was on offer.

So was my initial impression of the Smoky Poppy range being ‘grown up’ correct?  Absolutely!  The Smoky Poppy range from The Body Shop is for the Grown and Sexy!

When I first smelt it in-store, to me it had a cinnamon kind of scent.  But then I realized, that what I was smelling was being tainted by all of the different scents around me.  Even though I left without picking anything up, I was still quite interested in the Smoky Poppy Collection and decided to head back to pick up a few things once my olfactory sense had managed to calm down.  So when a few select items from the range landed on my desk before I was able to head back to the store, I immediately put it all to use.

Smoky-Poppy-Body-Scrub

First up is the Smoky Poppy Poppy Seed Scrub!  I love, love, love this stuff.  Not only does it smell amazing, but it makes my skin super soft by sloughing away all that dead skin.    This stuff is thick and really a little of it goes along way.  The poppy seeds that are contained in the scrub are not harsh on your skin, and don’t leave you feeling like you’ve just rolled around in sand.  Plus the scrub actually leaves some moisture behind.  The only thing I would do differently is to put it in a squeeze tube instead of a pot that you have to dip into.  It would be so much easier to manage in the shower that way.  The Smoky Poppy Poppy Seed Scrub is limited edition and retails for $20 CAD.

Smoky-Poppy-Shower-Gel

Next up is the Smoky Poppy Shower Gel.  Doesn’t that bottle look dark?  Well, it’s not just the bottle.  The actual shower gel is indeed black, which I wasn’t really expecting for some reason.  But there you have it.  The scent on this one, while the same as the rest of the range, isn’t nearly as potent as the other products.  You can smell it, but it isn’t as strong as say the Body Scrub or Body Butter.  Also, this one doesn’t lather as well as other Shower Gel’s that I’ve used from The Body Shop.  I find myself using a bit more of the Smoky Poppy Shower Gel so that I can get a really good lather going.  Even with those few minor issues, this has still been my go-to shower gel scent since it first arrived.  The Smoky Poppy Shower Gel retails for $9 CAD.

Smoky-Poppy-Body-Butter

And last, but certainly not least, we have the Smoky Poppy Body Butter.  Now I’ve pretty much stayed away from Body Butters.  Like my body scrub, I prefer my body butters, creams and lotions to come in a squeeze tube for sheer convenience.  But the reality is that if this Smoky Poppy Body Butter was in a squeeze tube, it would never come out, because this stuff is thick.  And let me tell you my friends, IT IS GLORIOUS.  It is aptly named because I do feel like I am slathering myself in butter every time I use it.  But man does it work and it certainly does last.  The Smoky Poppy Body Butter has the most potent scent of the three products that I tried out, and when I want the scent to last, using this really does the trick.  The Smoky Poppy Body Butter retails for $20 CAD.

If you’re interested in checking out this range, make sure you do sooner rather than later, because when it’s gone, it’s gone.  I myself have already stocked up on and bought myself some backups!
