Every now and then, you come across a product that makes you stop and take notice. Since the HOURGLASS Modernist Eyeshadow Palettes were announced, I’ve had my eye on these visually stunning offerings of eyeshadow goodness. My immediate reaction was pretty much I WANT THEM ALL. But my reality was a bit different. Having been burned by Hourglass before, and yes I am talking about the Ambient Lighting Palette, I decided to proceed with caution. I mean, really Sephora said that they were only available online, leaving no opportunity to test them out beforehand. *Note* Sephora’s website lies. You can buy them in-store at the Bloor Street location! What else was a beauty blogger to do but wait for others to review them and see what others were saying?
One of my absolute, hands down favourite products in 2014 was the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette. I reviewed that bad boy back in early March. I loved it then and I love it now. So imagine my surprise and joy when it was announced that Too Faced would be releasing a follow-up to that amazing palette as part of their Spring 2015 collection. Let me introduce you to the Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Eye Shadow Palette.

Can I just say that this palette is awesome and you should go purchase it? No? Oh, you want more reasons to buy it? Well I will give them to you.
First, let’s talk about the concept. When I first heard about the concept of a palette done in the form of a chocolate bar palette I was super skeptical. Then the press releases went around and I saw the colours that would be a part of the palette, I immediately thought it was too similar to the Urban Decay Naked Palettes. Now as much as I love me some Urban Decay and their Naked Palettes, The Too Faced Cosmetics The Chocolate Bar Eye Palette Blows them out of the water.
The packaging that the palette comes in actually looks just like the packaging on a candy bar; a high end candy bar at that. Then when you slip the palette out of the packing, the palette itself is done in a milk chocolate metal made to look like a chocolate bar that can be broken into pieces. It’s a sturdy and much more durable metal container along the same line of the Urban Decay Naked 2 & 3 palettes. My only one gripe is that the closure for this palette is not as secure and a bit on the flimsy side. It may just be my palette itself that is like this as I haven’t really tested anyone else’s or heard of this similar complaint.
Opening the palette, you are introduced to not only a mirror that spans the entire palette, but also the wonderful eye shadow shades that work for every skin tone. Seriously, I am not kidding. You want a neutral eye? Check! What about a smokey eye? Check! Oh you want something light with just a hint of colour? Check! Seriously, you can do it all with The Chocolate Bar Eye Palette. It has very quickly become my go to palette for pretty much everything. Combine the versatility of the shades with the very cute and very chocolate bar appropriate names of said shades and you can pretty much say that Too Faced Cosmetics has hit a home run on this one.
Quite honestly Too Faced Cosmetics keeps putting out products as good as The Chocolate Bar Eye Palette, we may be looking at my new favourite brand.
