So it’s been a hot minute since I’ve done one of these posts. What can I say, I’ve been busy…or lazy…or just plain procrastinating. In any case, I’ve been doing a lot of reading. So much that I haven’t had the time to write about any of it. Like at all. Lord knows when I’m going to get the actual energy to sit down and write a full-length book review again, but if I can’t do that, I can at least show you what I’m reading at the moment.
A Hot Glue Gun Mess: Funny Stories, Pretty DIY Projects
by Mr. Kate
Release Date: June 16, 2015
I am so stupidly excited for this one to come out. Right now, I’m reading and an advance copy and I’m loving it. But that doesn’t change the fact that I’ve already pre-ordered my copy. I love Mr. Kate! If you don’t know who Mr. Kate is, you need to. She is a DIY guru and she is absolutely hilarious. She does DIY’s in both video and pictorial format, and I pretty much stalk her blog to see what new thing she has come up with. A Hot Glue Gun Mess: Funny Stories, Pretty DIY Projects is not a typical DIY book. Oh, there are plenty of projects in the book, 50 to be exact, but each project is accompanied by hilarious stories. I seriously haven’t laughed so hard while reading a book since I read the advance of Hyperbole and a Half: Unfortunate Situations, Flawed Coping Mechanisms, Mayhem, and Other Things That Happened.
by Cherry Adair
Release Date: April 7, 2015
Next up, we have Blush by Cherry Adair. I’m not going to lie, I sometimes read some very heavy books. This is not one of them. In the midst of all that ‘heavy’ I need something light, fun, and let’s face it: smutty! I’ve never read anything by Cherry Adair before, but I was intrigued by the premise of a female billionaire on the run and the sexy hitman turned handyman who’s supposed to kill her. I’ve got my fingers crossed for this one, but really, it could go either way.
Madam President: A Novel
by Nicolle Wallace
Release Date: April 28, 2015
When this one showed up, I have to admit, I was super intrigued just because it has a female president. But add into that the whole secrets and suspense thing and I was sold. Full confession, I haven’t actually started reading this one yet, but it’s sitting right next to me for me to start on my journey home this evening.
The Bone Tree: A Novel
by Greg Iles
Release Date: April 21, 2015
I have to confess, I have been reading this one for some time now. Can you blame me? The Bone Tree is over 800 pages long. But really, it’s pretty much 800+ pages of awesome. Books like The Bone Tree, remind me why I originally got into book blogging back in the day. They make me equally excited to not only be a reader, but to share these awesome books with you. This is #5 in the Penn Cage series, and while it is not a requirement that you read books 1-3, you do, at the very least, need to read book #4 Natchez Burning before attempting to read The Bone Tree. Trust me, the 1600+ pages you’ll have read by the time you finish both books is well worth it.
Well there you have it. There are the books I am currently reading at the moment. What about you? What books are you reading right now?
