So I have had my eyes on the BECCA Beach Tint Shimmer Soufflés ever since they were announced earlier in the year. To me, they just looked so interesting and lord knows that I am a sucker for new cheek colours and products.
BECCA Cosmetics describes them as:
A four-in-one air whipped soufflé formula that adds a flush of colour to cheeks.
And trust me, they were not kidding. Each Beach Tint Shimmer Soufflé comes in a pot that is no bigger than a MAC Paint Pot. Honestly when I first opened it up, I thought it was going to be the same consistency and I was kind of puzzled as to just how that was going to work for cheek colour. Well, I was wrong. While the Beach Tint Shimmer Soufflés might be roughly the same size as a MAC Paint Pot, they are nowhere near the same consistency. And that my friends, is a very good thing.
The BECCA Beach Tint Shimmer Soufflés are super light, fluffy and delicate (why do I sound like I am describing an actual soufflé). But really they are named so well because they really are like a soufflé. Next up was figuring out the best way to apply it.
The answer is that there really is no right or wrong way, but I would suggest a densely packed synthetic cheek brush. Not only will it help you apply product evenly, it will also blend much better. I myself apply them with one of the brushes from the RealTechniques line. You could also use a stippling brush or even just use your fingers.
Of the four that I picked up, Raspberry/Opal was the first one I tried out. Described as ‘raspberry infused with golden opal‘ they really nailed this one right on the head. It is the perfect berry shade and the opal gives it enough of a shine that it just looks so flawless. I’ve done a few makeup trial runs for a few brides since picking up these soufflés, and raspberry/opal has been the one that I reach for time and time again. With a wear time of 8+ hours with little to no maintenance needed once applied, you really can’t go wrong.
You can wear this one alone as your cheek colour, under a complimentary colour to give your blush more staying powder, or as a highlight. The possibilities really are endless!
Retailing for $27.00 US/$33.00 CAD, these can be purchased online from Sephora or directly from BECCA Cosmetics. If you are in the Toronto area, you can also pick them up at Sephora Eaton Centre which is the only location in Canada to carry the BECCA Cosmetics line.
Until next time,
