Best Books of 2011!

Best Books of 2011

So welcome to my list of what I consider to be the best books I have read in 2011.  Considering I only started tracking the books back in May when I started blogging, I have made a pretty good dent.  I have read some good ones, and I have read some bad ones.  Before I begin looking ahead to 2012, lets take a look back at what really stood out for me in 2011!

1. The Devil Colony by James Rollins – What can I say about my love of James Rollins and his Sigma Series.  One of the first books I started reading when I started blogging.  I think this was actually one of the first books I also read from NetGalley and I had a major fangirl moment when I did.  I started reading James Rollins’ Sigma Series this year while waiting for the new Cotton Malone book by Steve Berry to come out.  I absolutely devoured them and was eagerly anticipating the release of The Devil Colony in June.  I got my wish, read it early, loved it, and reviewed it here!

2. The Sixes by Kate White – This was one of the first physical ARC’s I received back in the summer.  I was intrigued by the synopsis of the book, but really had no idea what to expect.  I must say I was pleasantly surprised and couldn’t put the book down.  The Sixes by Kate White ended up being a surprise enjoyment and making it on to my favourite list.  You can read my review here!

3. The Throne of Fire  by Rick Riordan – Rick Riordan is kind of awesome.  He is also kind of a rock star as was demonstrated by the massive turnout for his signing back in October.  Over 1000 people of all ages showed up to see him and to get them to sign one of his books.  If you have ever read one of his books, it’s quite easy to see just what all the hype is about.  Released back in May 2011, The Throne of Fire was yet another stellar read.  You can read my review here!

4. Crushed Seraphim by Debra Anastasia – One of the first books I won in a Goodreads Giveaway.  It was also one of my early Waiting on Wednesday picks and boy was I right on the money with this one.  This was Debra’s debut book and it was freaking fabulous.  As a result of my love for this book, I now twitter stalk Debra (everyone should, she’s flipping hilarious) and will pretty much read anything she writes.  You haven’t read one of her books?  You should!  You can read my review here!

5. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern – Yeah, so this one is my absolute top book of 2011.  I love this book.  Everyone knows I love this book.  I love it so much that I have three copies of my own.  Scratch that, I have two copies because I gave one to Angel.  I only found out about it back in August, and then I became a bit obsessed until I got my hands on a copy.  The obsession was well founded.  I have yet to lend this book to anyone and not have them just fall in love with it.  You can read my review here!

Bonus!

6. Poughkeepsie by Debra Anastasia – This book earns an honourable mention for the character of Beckett Taylor alone.  Poughkeepsie itself is an absolutely marvelous book in and of itself, but Beckett Taylor is the real standout.  I think you should pick it up!  Don’t believe me, you can read my review here! Beckett Taylor FTW!
